Happy Canada Day Giveaway, Eh?!

Koo-loo-koo-koo, koo-loo-koo-kooHappy Canada Day my fellow Canucks.  I wish you a fun-filled holiday, and to celebrate I am giving away one of my cookbooks (your choice)!

Just enter your comment on this post - and, why not share your own fave "Great White North" bit while your at it!  (Those of you too young to remember Bob & Doug, this will bring you up to speed!)

Oh, and the giveaway is open to Canadians only this time round!

(p.s. to everyone outside of Canada, yes, I am perpetuating a stereotype with this Great White North video - and yes, I know it's not very vegan either - not to be taken seriously, folks!)

Have a Happy Canada Day! :)

  5. Happy Canada Day!

I'm a bit young for "Great White North," but I was a huge fan of "You Can't Do That On Television"

Thanks for another great giveaway, Dreena!

  6. Happy Canada Day! Please pick me!!

My favourite Bob & Doug memory: the 12 Days of Christmas. There's no partridge in a pear tree. Nope. And a beer.

    =)

  9. Take off, eh? Ya Hoser!
I AM old enough to remember SCTV. My friends & I would all hang out & watch it. I loved that show! Dr. Tongue's 3D House of Pancakes (or whatever else he happened to have a house of), Guy Caballero, Floyd Robertson & Earl Camembert, Edith Prickley - loads of laughs. Dave Thomas' mother lives in Burlington, eh?
And also, like H-Woman, I love that 12 Days of Christmas bit. "On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me - 3 French toasts, 2 turtlenecks and a BEER!"
Thanks Dreena for the trip down memory lane. HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

  10. I'm a Canadian expat living in NYC - I love these two and all theirhilarious Canadian stereotypes that Americans love to bug us with :)

My personal favorite Great White North moment is actually in Strange Brew: "After the nuclear holocaust, all the bowling alleys were closed so I spent most of my time looking for beer."

I had a friend ask me if curling was the Canadian equivalent of bowling. No way dude, we love us some curling AND some bowling!

  11. How did I not know my fave cookbook author was Canadian!? That's just fantastic :)
I'm a wee bit too young to remember Bob & Doug although I had a Canadian history teacher in high school who would always reference them!

  12. I was too young for SCTV at the time, but I do remember their version of the 12 Days of Christmas!
    Happy Canada Day!

  13. Bob & Doug are pure gold :D I love it all, but one of my enduring faves is their rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas - I look forward to hearing it every season :) HAPPY Canada Day, ya hoser - take off, eh! :)

Love the blog makeover, by the way - nicely done.

  14. We moved to Seattle to teach at a university, but have stayed Canadian. The funny questions we got from our US friends included, "Did you have dog sleds to get to school? Did you ever build an igloo?" And none of them know what a toque or chesterfield are...(hat and sofa)

Guess we didn't have Eskimo/Inuit fun... We lived 15 minutes north of the USA border, in the temperate W Coast climate.

Been vegan for 10 years - love your recipes. Would really enjoy the book since I cook a lot for friends. They often ask "Where did you find such fantastic food - is it really vegan?" Would love to expand my repertoire.

  24. Yay Canada!

You know, my favourite Great White North moment isn't actually from Great White North...I loved how in the movie Brother Bear the had the two Bob & Doug do the voices of the two moose. I laugh hysterically every time. :)

  25. I am only recently Canadian, and too young for Bob & Doug but I AM excited about Second City live shows! I love live comedy and a friend-of-a-friend is in one right now about the awful candidates in the TO mayoral race, and I am going to see it soon! It will be a welcome relief from the things that Rob Ford and Rocco Rossi say.
