An Old New Recipe

I was skimming through some of my food pics this morning, and came across this pie I was testing out over Christmas - yes, Christmas!

It's a new recipe, an Orange Chai Cream Pie. Now, I realize that given the recipe and photo have been sitting around since before '08, it's become an old but new recipe. Time to revisit - and retest this one. I did a couple of tests and it was phenomenal, and our guests devoured it as our Christmas dinner dessert.

Trouble is, when testing it after Christmas, the kids weren't into the chai spices, and the orange/chai flavors don't really excite hubby either... so I had a lot of pie taking up fridge space. But can't you imagine how lovely those flavors would be for the holidays, though? I need some more enthusiastic samplers... like you guys. :)

I actually like the orange/chai flavor combination - sounds enticing!!

Is this your subtle way to call for testers? Well here's my unsubtle way of saying, PICK ME PICK ME! I don't ever think there's ever a time that chai and orange wouldn't entice me!

I love the flavor of orange and chai spices together (it's a great combo in tea), and I can only imagine how amazing it must be in pie!

Hmm, it doesn't sound like a flavor combo that I would immediately be attracted to (I'm very loyal to anything with chocolate though!), but I'd be more than willing to try it out. It sure does look good!

I would happy to try out the recipe and post the outcome. I am a bit of a chai addict. I actually made chai cupcakes this past weekend.

I think dream pie is a good name -- that dessert looks phenomenal! I can take holiday spices any time of the year and would definitely be the enthusiastic type of tester you speak of. :)

I would love to be a tester if that's what you're after. I'm after an excuse to bake with my daughter and indulge a little.

Send some my way! Enthusiastic tester right here!

Ooooh hubbie adores all things chai-like and all things pie-like, so if you need more testers and would like your recipe to be tested in Ireland, look no further :)

Send me one! Now. :)

It looks and sounds amazing.

wow, I can't imagine having that pie taking up space in my fridge! (in my belly, now that's another question) I'd love to test out this recipe (or any recipe! are you looking for testers? that'd be so fantastic!)

It sounds delightful. I'd give it a taste...or two :)

Me!Me!Me! We're a pie-loving household and I would love to try this. If you need testers, I'm up for the job. I think you probably have my e-mail address.

I think orange & chai sounds refreshing, actually! I'd love to give this a try!

I am probably way too late - but - um - I guess, if I HAVE to - I would try your pie!!! I think it sounds really nice for summer too - like how curries are super good in summer - the whole sweating & cooling thangy - there - did I justify admission into the tester hall of fame???

Holy smokes guys, I wasn't expecting this response for testing (though, I dearly appreciate it), and had meant that I could use some of you to sample stuff... 'cause I KNOW you guys would be excited about it! Nevertheless, I really *should* get some dedicated testing going. You should know that I don't even have this recipe formatted yet, so while I'd love to send it out to some of you to try out, I have to transcribe it and format it myself. I will get sorted eventually, and when I do, I'll remember your enthusiasm and send a call for testers. Thank you all. xoxo

dreena - I can't remember if it was you or if you are familiar with this, but I remember someone had a link on their blog to a recipe generator... you simply put in what vegies you had, plus what base (rice, or noodles etc) and it came up with a recipe.

Does that ring a bell???
As always, love yr blog : )

this looks like my dream desert!!!

shinyruby, what immediately comes to mind (and the only thing that does) is some program to make any vegan 'loaf' from a combination of grains/beans, etc that Jennifer McCann created from her veganlunchbox blog... maybe check out her blog and see if that's the one you're looking for?

I think this sounds to die for!
