Give the Gift of Baking!

Want a couple of inexpensive and baking-themed gift ideas for the holidays? I've been busy, busy posting recipes for you guys! :)

Link through for recipes you can make to give as gifts (includes a new recipe) and for suggestions to pack a little something extra with those sweets, if you so choose!

Now, since we are thinking about gift-giving, don't we have a giveaway to take care of? After having a read, come back and comment on this post with which treat mentioned that you would most like to receive... and, feel free to offer your own inexpensive gift suggestions that might inspire other readers. All comments will be entered to win a copy of one of my cookbooks (rules, as always).

And, on another note, I recently finished an interview with Janae of the veganmothering. She had some fun, inspired questions for me as part of her "Real Vegan Momma" interview series, and I really enjoyed conversing with her. Even if you don't want to read the whole interview, check out Janae's blog anyhow! It is beautiful and inspiring (as she is), and with regular informative posts.

Stay tuned for my next post about my Christmas Day menu... and yes, I will be posting the recipes!

Give homemade bath salts in pretty jars. Mix epsom salt, olive oil and add with your favorite aromatherapy oil - lavender or jasmine, for example. You can experiment with different types of salts, too. I got this as a gift from a friend, and I love it!

Oops, forgot to mention that I'd love to get some of your gingerbread folks - they look amazing! ;)

my hemp-anola sounds delicious!

Laura said...

Your chocolate bark sounds wonderful! I'd also like to try the hemp-anola, as I've never eaten anything hemp based.

I usually give gifts of photographs I took during the year, in lovely frames.

The Chocolate Bark looks and sounds marvelous. (I am a chocoholic!)
Wonderful ideas for gifts.

I'd like the truffles! I'm a super chocolate lover but have never much got into chocolate bark!

radioactivegan said...

I love to do gingerbread cookies, but I rarely make a gingerbread man -- gingerbread dinosaurs are so much more festive! :)

Those truffles look heavenly! I'm drooling, seriously.

I make granola too for some of my family - they love it and so does my wallet :) This year I'm thinking of doing some cookies and granola bars too.

I like a truffle recipe I got from a running magazine & modified - it has pumpkin seeds & dried cranberries thrown into the chocolate - yummy! This year we are giving baking, cards designed by my daughter, & to a select few, sock creatures! (mostly monkeys but you never know!!)

Chocolate Bark sounds fantastic!

The Unbelievably Rich Chocolate Truffles sound amazing, I would love to receive some of them!

Chocolate bark! I've never had it before!

Truffles would be my choice - yummy! I often give loaves of pumpkin cranberry bread, which is so good. I used to do date & nut bread, but have switched over to the pumpkin. Also, plates of various homemade cookies and/or candy.

I can't wait to try the gingerbread (although it will have to wait since I don't have a mixer). I'm not a big chocolate fan, although I have made the truffles to give to others. And as much as I like making cookies and candy to give as gifts (since I'm a starving student) the best inexpensive gift to receive is someone else's favourite book. I'm a HUGE reader and like it when someone else gives me a book that is reflective of themselves! I get to read something I may never have picked up otherwise.

I'd love someone to make me some of those truffles. One of the nicest presents we ever received was a large French jar filled with homemade, vegan Russian tea cakes.

Christina said...

Definitely the truffles would be at the top of my list! These are my first holidays as a vegan, so I'm having a great time experimenting with all of your amazing cookie and other dessert recipes.

I love the small useful gadget line of gifting, i.e. things I'd never bother to get for myself but would be useful in the kitchen.

That chocolate bark looks marvelous.

Josiane said...

My gentleman friend and I have been on a truffle kick lately, so I'd love to get some - or maybe the hemp-anola, or... really, how can I choose? The treats you mentioned in the article all look so good, I'd be really happy with any of them! :)

The dark chocolate truffles sound amazing!

aztextpress said...

I'd LOVE some chocolate bark.. right about NOW in fact!

Katie said...

Oh my goodness, most definitely the chocolate truffles! Those sound absolutely amazing! This year I'm doing a lot of hand knit gifts.

myrtle said...

all the recipes look delicious but there is a special place in my heart for gingerbread folks.

ce said...

Those truffles look amazing- as a true chocholic, I would definitely want them!

Marianne (frenchfriestoflaxseeds) said...

It's a toss up between the two chocolate treats - I can't decide if the chocolate bark or truffles look better. You can't really go wrong with chocolate though, that's for sure.

Justina Selim said...

I would love the gingerbread folks! My daughter is gluten free so they would be perfect for our house!

Stephanie said...

I would definitely try the gingerbread folks!

I usually give little tins or boxes of truffles and fudge. That chocolate bark has me drooling, though. YUM.

Maureen said...

This year I will be making a big batch of caramel corn with some dark chocolate drizzled over it. I would like to try the Hempanola

Jenna McKay said...

Ooh, I've been craving some ginger-y comfort lately - gingerbread folks all the way for me!

laura said...

ooh, Chocolate bark! Fair trade/equitable labor, naturally. mmmmmm.

Custom T-shirts said...

Thanks for sharing. If you are looking to promote your brand in a unique way or want to add that special touch to your gifting solutions, an ideal option is to use customized gifts like t-shirts, pens, mugs, bags which have your company logo imprinted on them.

lauren said...

i am actually going to be serving truffles this year and sending people home with gingerbread dinosaurs [my only cookie cutter shape].

also, i always give food as a gift. i love to give banana bread, cookies, and muffin baskets. it usually just depends on how much money i have or how much time i have.

Aleesha said...

I'd love to try your truffles. I remember eating my great-grandmother's truffles (which were definitely NOT vegan) as a child, but I've never had any since becoming a vegan. They'll have to go on my holiday menu this year!

Candi said...

i think ill go the ginger bread route. maybe Ill make a house for it,and name them hansel and gretel. Ill be the witch that eats them all up!! yum!

I give knitted dishcloths. Its a tradition in my family. My whole family we knit our own dishcloths. I dont have anything else in my drawers!

Takes a movie watching to make (if you dont have to look at your hands, and are not too slow). Perfect for a quick sit down gift.

Jamie said...

Homemade chocolate almond bark sounds delicious!!!! I've been looking around forever for some Vegan chocolate bark, but can never find any at the supermarket. Also, I've not had truffles since I went vegan, so that would be a truly decadent treat!

Ricki said...

No contest--the chocolate bark! Chocolate beats pretty much everything. ;)

vegaholic said...

I think I'm gonna have to try that truffle recipe!
A package of hemp-nola would be a great gift - something different from all the sweets of the season

I'd love the granola!!

Hey I did want to say that last year I had to make a lot of gifts. Dessert boxes, Yule logs, found some nice logs in the firewood pile, tied on rosemary, cinnamon sticks, pine cone with natural string. I printed off the tradition on a yule log online and gave with the gift. Everyone LOVED them (i was kinda shocked) They were very pretty. This year I am making dream catchers from grapevine and hemp cording. They are turning out really nice. Seems a lot of family members lost pets this year so I am doing some watercolor portraits of the pets as well.

Brooke said...

I'd love to try your truffles! I have made the bark and love it too!

Zaidan said...

I love chocolate so I love to receive the truffles! Thank you for sharing these recipes...I think I will be attempting the gingerbread cookies. For x-mas this year, I will be giving friends and family some of my favorite things: tea, homemade cookies, favorite organic body cream (smells of coconut and make me feel like I am in the tropics)!
Looking forward to the x-mas recipe ideas!!

Thanks for posting this. Homemade, thoughtful gifts are always the best,

Don't enter me in the contest, since I already have all your books...

Alta said...

I think I might have missed the deadline to be entered into the contest, but I would love to receive the chocolate truffles with the soy candle.

Lacia said...

I would love to get the bark as a gift. Yummmmmy! I just love chocolate and nuts. All of my favorite christmas treats that my mom and grandma made all had nuts or peanuts in them, and unfortunately my oldest has a peanut/nut allergy so they are now no-no's in our house. But I would sneak away somewhere to eat that bark!

Brandi said...

I missed your giveaway...buuuuttttt I would like to invite you to enter my Arbonne Giveaway! Arbonne is an animal friendly haircare and skincare product line. Hope to see your entry on the flip side!

I too, would love some of the truffles.
Gift idea=sugar scrub
Mix a handful of granulated sugar with enough vegetable oil to make it goopy. Mix in 1-3 of your favourite essential oils. Store in some kind of air-tight container. Presto, easy, nourishing body-sugar scrub.
