Sometimes I'm Such a Tease

SF Chocolate Cake w/ Fluffy Macadamia Mallow Frosting
Taunting you with dessert photos today.  This is my Sugar-Free Chocolate Cake.  There are natural sweeteners and also dried fruit in this cake, but no refined or even unrefined sugar.  I've posted about it before, but have been testing. and testing. and testing it.

I've run through this one no less than a dozen times.  Seriously.  It could be my most tested recipe ever (next to my Fudgy Brownies from Vive, I tested those about a dozen times too).  This cake has been tricky, either a tad dry or too moist.  But now, by George, I think I've got it! Here, it's topped with a Fluffy Macadamia Mallow Frosting (new, and soy-free and can be sugar-free).

SF Chocolate Cake with Cooked Frosting
Same cake, different frosting.  This is a Cooked Frosting that can be made soy-free, nut-free, and also gluten-free.  Not flavor-free though!  It is creamy, not overly sweet, but very luscious and satisfying.  This one's not sugar-free, and so it may seem counter-intuitive to layer a sugar-free cake with a frosting that has sugar, but it's all in the name of testing.  And... someone's got to take that on.

Daughter's bagel with spinach-artichoke spread and laughing olives

That "someone" would be me, and my kiddos and hubby.  And, sometimes my friends.  Sorry you can only look and not taste.  See, even my daughter is laughing that she gets to eat it and you don't.  Mwahaha!

Really, you know I'm not that sinister.  Yes, I've been wanking on about this new cookbook.  Before I get the publication details sorted, I will post some new recipes.  I'll get a list together soon and have you choose some faves.

Until then, "na-na-na-na-na". ;)

  13. This reminds me of a great 'poor man's chocolate cake' that I was lucky enough to get the recipe of. I have yet to make it; I think I will try this one first! Thanks for the post!
