Broccoli Cashew Teriyaki Stir-Fry |
Looks like the
Chickpea Sunflower Burgers just edged out the other recipes in the voting, so I will get to posting it the next few days!
In the meantime, I've
posted my Broccoli Cashew Teriyaki Stir-Fry recipe from ed&bv. It's been a popular recipe, so I thought more of you might like to give it a whirl - or a sizzle!

YIKES, I Need A Name!! |
And... I need a recipe name for this dish. Guess I'd say it's a dahl of sorts. There was an Indian dish from a local restaurant that I loved except for the intense spicy heat. So, I created my own recipe with
red lentils and kidney beans, that cooks and simmers in a fragrant
broth spiced with cumin seeds, fennel seeds, mustard seeds, coriander, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, with a twist of orange juice. I absolutely love the earthy spices and comforting feel of this dish, and of course, it can be kicked up with heat from crushed chiles or hot sauce if you want.
So, any inventive ideas for a recipe name? I just am tapped out in that department right now!
The problem posed by meat has become an abstract one: there is no individual animal, no singular look of joy or suffering, no wagging tail, and no scream. (Source: Eating Animals)
Funny - I just made that broccoli teriyaki stir-fry for the first time a couple of nights ago. We all really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteexotic lentils and beans???
ReplyDeletethe seasonings sound wonderful.
That stir-fry looks delicious and I can almost smell the wonderful fragrances of the second dish.
ReplyDeleteI don't know for a name Fragrant Spice Rice?
I've grown to love the indian spices more and more, and this sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteFor a name, I'd go with something like Fragrant Indian Red Lentils, or play on the fact that the ingredients are suited to the Vata type in Ayurvedic practices. Spicy-Sweet Red Lentils for Vata. Ayurvedic Red Lentils for Vata.
The results the Vata diet goes for is to relieve nervous tension, cramps, pain, anxiety, insomnia, bloating, constipation, dryness, raise digestive fire to help assimilate nutrients and calm the nervous system. Any name ideas out of that?
How about 'Dahhhling Dahl', a play on 'darling dahl'. It makes me giggle...but maybe that's just cuz I love saying 'Dahhhling' like Zsa Zsa.
ReplyDeletethanks for some ideas, guys.
ReplyDeleteHeather, funny you mention the vata thing, b/c that's probably why I love this dish so much, it has so many of those vata-soothing earthy/sweet spices. I have alwakys been intrigued by the Ayurvedic principles and doshas, it's quite fascinating.
tweal, that's funny, I never would have thought of something like that. Will think on that one some more...
you can keep 'em coming!
Yummy stir-fry! Chickpea Sunflower Burgers was my runner-up choice and I'm sure they're wonderfully delicious.
ReplyDeleteAs for name...hmmm...let me keep thinking.
You could combine a couple of the suggestions into Vata Dal / Vata Dahl ... sort of sounds like 'what a dal' or 'what a doll' if one had a certain eastern european accent. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a lovely dish.
