While grocery shopping with my 4-year old this weekend, we passed through the deli area where they sell various deli meats, roasted chickens, as well as cheeses. My daughter said "what's that stinky smell, mommy?". I replied "That's dead animal, honny." "Yuck, that's stinks!" she said.
A few minutes later we passed through the bakery where you could smell the aroma of freshly baked bread and my daughter said "mmmm, what smells so good mommy?" "That's bread baking hon", I replied.
Funny, isn't it, how sensitive our children's senses are. We 'tune out' so much, but they are keenly aware. The foul smells of the meat products were totally repulsive to her.
I guess "vegan knows, or rather 'nose', best"!

Yes, Chris, how many times I've heard from parents this type of thing:
"My kids won't eat any meat - not chicken, not beef, nothing."
Hmmm, well, stop feeding it to them! :)
Funny, Mal! What's with the chicken and waffles combination?... never understood that! :)
I know this is a really old thread, but it made me think of how when I walk through that section of stores, I actually cover my nose and mouth b/c the smell is so bad it makes me feel ill.
Kids are smart :)
