Off topic but I have a question regarding cookies... I recently made the double chocolate cookies and I found the batter to be very crumbly. I wasn't sure if I should add water, more maple syrup or oil. I added a bit of everything but it only helped a bit. Did I do something wrong or are they supposed to be like that. The cookies turned out to be delicious by the way but just hard to manipulate prior to baking.

Sweet Pea, that's a good question. The batter can tend to be a little drier because of the cocoa powder. Be sure to go generous with the canola oil and maple syrup next time. I wouldn't add water, instead when you measure in the canola oil and maple syrup, let it be almost heaping in the 1/4 and 1/3 cup amounts. I'm glad you brought that up, because sometimes flours can have more volume and battters can be more dry/wet each time you make them (with humidity, etc), and so with the cocoa powder in there it can be 'doubly' so! (pun intended)! Anyhow, you have reminded me to make a note for the next reprint of Vive since I have noticed this occasionally with that batter myself. hmmm, I should include it in a post sometime too. I hope next time they are even better for you!

Hi Dreena,I don't have a blogger account, but I'm really excited for the new cookbook, and have a question for you regarding the chocolate hemp squares from vive le vegan.I was planning on making them tonight, and was wondering how to store them.Should I store them in the freezer soon after I make them?or when should I put them in the freezer. And how should they be stored in the freezer?
thanks
p.s you were awesome at Taste Of Health last year!

Hi Evan! Sorry I'm just answering you - I assume you've made the squares already... but, I'd suggest that you refrigerate them first until they are completely cool. Then, you can cut them and store them in an airtight container either in the fridge for a week or two, or if you want to keep them longer then - yes - by all means, pop them in the freezer (hmmmm, though I don't know if you'll be able to keep them that long!) :) Thanks for your note about TOH too!! I may do that event again this year, it was a good festival last year. Good luck - let me know how you like the squares!
