ED&BV Recipe Posts

Hiya guys. Quick note to let you know that the recipes for Mellow Lentil 'Sniffle' Soup and Chipotle Lime Two-Bean Hummus have been posted.

I had almost finished posting the Raspberry Cornmeal Pancakes/Celestial Cream recipes, but my computer crashed shortly after. I'm using a replacement laptop for the meantime and don't have access to my recipe files until my computer is fixed. Once up running, I'll get to the other recipes for you. I'll also be posting the Cashew-Ginger Tofu recipe, because I think you must try it out!

Please share the recipe page link (http://viveleveganrecipes.blogspot.com/) on any discussion boards/forums you are part of. It's great for others to try out some ed&bv recipes to get a sense of what it's all about. The archives on this recipe page also has some samples from Vive and TEV. Note to self: Must organize them. (yeah, helps when the computer doesn't bum out on me!)

Also, a reminder to those of you in my area that I'll be doing a cookbook signing at Choices White Rock on Sat Nov 24th 1:30 - 3pm. Recipe samples will be there... not just me!

I just made the sniffle soup the other night and it was PERFECT. I enjoyed it with some quinoa and had an awesome meal. Thanks for all the great recipes- I've been having so much fun with my EDBV addiction.

Sorry to hear about the computer crash. I hate dealing with those annoying problems.

Hey Dreena!

Just wanted to stop by and say hello, and to tell you that I've made 6 recipes from ED&BV so far (the blondies, 2 cookie recipes, a hummus recipe, popeye pasta, and the quinoa-chickpea-confetti casserole), and they've all been 100% successful and delicious :0) I can't wait to try more!

I've sent your website link to a few friends to entice them. :)
Also, I was at Save-On yesterday, and was browsing through their teeny book section, and there was ED&BV!!! I was so excited I yelled down the isle to my husband, "Hey honey! They have ED&BV here! How cool is that?!" :)

hey dreena, i was watching Cityline today, and they were talking about new cook books.. and they mentioned EDBV! it was just briefly, but awesome to see it on a mainstream show!

Hiya Teresa! Yeah! I'm so glad you liked the soup... and I couldn't be happier knowing you are enjoying edbv. thx!!

Veggiegirl, that's so terrific. I need to get people making those blondies... I do love them myself, and I think they're something a lot of people would like - so glad that you did! Notice how I focus right on the sweets??!

Awesome, vegmomma, thanks for that. Spread the recipe luv! I know, Save-On is actually really great for stocking my books - it's kind of bizarre for me to see they might have 5 or so books sitting on that shelf, because it's a small cookbook section. Your excitement is adorable... we need to grocery shop together. :)

Michelle, that's way cool!! I didn't catch that myself, though I do like the show when I can watch it while cooking or something. Esp fashion fridays - 'cause it helps give me some clue as to what's current - ha! Thanks for telling me about it, esp when you've just had your most exciting and most wonderful news. :)

Dreena, I tried your lentil sniffle soup last weekend and loved it! I'm not a vegan, but I certainly dabble in it at times. This recipe is a keeper -- even my carnivore boyfriend went back for seconds.

P.S. I just heard your great interview on the VeganFreak podcast. It made an afternoon of housework much more enjoyable. :)

it seems that i have lots of time these days to sit down and watch tv now that i have this ravenous little monkey to nurse all day!

i would LOVE to see you on cityline.. i love thier home days, but they very rarely do anything veg/vegan.. they need someone there to show them how to do it right!

More yum.

Why don't you come to Philly to do a signing? Pretty please with tofu on it?

hiya Jo! Welcome aboard, and thanks for the note... and I'm so glad you're luvin' edbv... terrific, thanks. :)

Wow, veggiegirl, thanks a bunch for that splendid post! I just got a chance to check it out this morning (I have even more computer woes - boo!)... but, holy hannah, you've really been trying some recipes, and I totally appreciate that edbv post tribute! xo

Yay Emily!! Non-vegans loving a very vegan recipe... such a rewarding thing to hear. Keep trying some more recipes, and let me know which ones are 'omnivore pleasing'. Vegans always want to know which recipe they can make for potlucks, etc, to please themselves and the non-veg people in their group, so this kind of feedback is always appreciated. :)

Vegmomma, dreaded housework, huh?! It just never ends. Always picking up toys, cleaning spills, laundry, yadda yadda yadda. Well, I'm glad the Freaks podcast made it a bit easier. I always listen to their podcast on my computer - I've *really* gotta' get myself an ipod! (yeah, I'm way behind the times)

Hey Michelle! Well, sounds like the nursing is going okay so far - that's excellent. I agree, all these shows need just a bit of veg influence, it's unreal how much focus there is on heavy meals and meat and dairy - esp this time of year. Say 'hi' to the new bundle of joy for me. :)

Ha, urban vegan... oh, I'd love to! Then, you could show me around to all the great veg restaurants you talk about on your blog. That would be sweeeeet! I have a hard time pulling off book promo past local events... but, it sure would be fun...!!! (hmmmm, make that tofu a whollop of vegan ice-cream instead.... might be an offer I can't refuse)!

I'm glad you enjoyed the post!! and every single Thanksgiving dish I'm serving, is from ED&BV :0)

Oh man! I wish I could stop by "your area" for the cookbook signing... I cannot imagine how good your recipes must be when they're actually cooked by YOU -- everything I've made from ED&BV has come out amazingly! I baked the Maple Pecan Sticky Blondies for my family today and we all loved them! I've been looking for something to satisfy my longings for cookie cake (something I'd always buy for my pre-vegan birthday parties), and the blondies hit the spot!

Today I finally got around to reviewing your book (five stars, of course) on amazon.com as my way of saying thanks! So thank you again!

Dreena,

I was wondering if you had one or if any of your recipes could be used for waffles. My MIL gave us a waffle/quesadilla/pizza maker. I followed a recipe from another vegetarian cookbook but I was not thrilled with its turnout, it was too soft. Oh! Too let you know there are several nurses I work with that want me to either cook more for them or give them the recipes. For our Thanksgiving I made the Choclate Chunk Spice Cookie and brought them to work. I would say 90% loved them. I would like to ask....is brown rice sugar always kinda gritty? I tried to use it in place of another flour and oooh the cookies were gritty. I bought a bunch of it so I need to know what I can use it in. I an not really familar with different flours.
Thanks!

Robin
P.S. I would be glad to try any new recipe you have!!

Thanks Dreena for the lovely note.

Just letting you know that I tried the chickpea tart and cranberry sauce from VegNews for a dinner party I just had. Both were so yummy. I also made some mashed sweet potatoes and turnips and topped this sidedish with your maple balsamic vinaigrette recipe (ED&BV).

Hi Dreena,
Just bought EDBV-LOVE IT! I never enjoyed cooking before becoming a vegan, and now I cannot get enough of it. I tried the coco-coconut chili, the sesame peanut hummus, the tamari roasted chickpeas and the maple balsamic sauce. All big hits-even with my little guys. I whipped up the hummus this morning before I left for work. Yum!
Thanks for the simple, delicious recipes! Can't wait to figure out what I'll make tonight.
