Peace Break

Hi guys.  I have some fun stuff coming up, including new recipes, at least one giveaway, and an 'out-of-the-kitchen' kind of review.  But, right now, I'm feeling it's time for a break.

The next few weeks will be busy with birthdays and my mom visiting from Newfoundland.  Also, I've been receiving contentious e-mails and comments, which take time to shake off.  You won't see the comments, since I moderate.  I chose to moderate comments to (1) reduce spam and (2) filter argumentative and negative feedback on my blog, as I think it is unnecessary and unproductive.  While I don't publish the comments, I still read them as they come through my e-mail.  I'd like to be unaffected by them, but hey I'm human.  Just for some personal sanity, I'm taking a few weeks to regroup and focus on family, my recipes, and finishing this next book.

Hope to come back with renewed energy and good things to share with you all.  Peace out.

Thank you for all your great posts!

My visits may not show up, as I read your posts through an RSS feed reader. But since you mentioned negative comments, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy and appreciate your blog. You write great material and have so many good ideas!

Good luck on your "detox"!

Have a great break! Enjoy your Mom and don't let other people's negativity affect you. I know it's hard though. I'm the same, I have a thin skin. Thank you for all you do and great recipes and info you share with us who are open and compassionate.

Why on earth would someone send mean comments to you?!? That's awful. You're a wonderful person making a positive impact on the world, don't forget that. Also, your cookbooks rock!

For every negative comment let's hope the rest if us give you 10. You're awesome. You do so much for the life of this planet and encourage vegans and vegetarians everywhere. Enjoy the break, your mom and the rest of your family. And thank you!

You are awesome Dreena. We had your finger licking good Balsamic Maple Sauce tonight on roasted cabbage, beets and potatoes. Delish. We can't wait for your next cookbook. Enjoy your time away!

That's unfortunate about the negative comments - totally undeserved because you're super awesome! And I've been making your living Caesar dressing a whole bunch lately, it's soooo good.

Have an amazing break and take care! :)

Dearest Dreena;

Thank you so much for bringing your beautiful recipes and gentle energy out into the world. When complacency sets in to my stand-by recipes, or I don't feel like cooking but leave in a small town with nearly no vegan options, I turn to your Eat, Drink and Be Vegan and find something I have not made yet, and it is always delish.

Holding the light can feel daunting, overwhelming and lonely, but please know when we see your light here and in your books, it all helps us share our light too.

Veganism is a force which changes us all individually and the planet collectively. I honour you for holding a torch high for all those stumbling to find the truth, and sharing your recipes to help others heal themselves.

Hugs,

Genevieve

Dreena, you give so much to everyone in your life and to all of us "Dreena Fans." We love you and support you. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been the recipient of other people's negative crap. Please know that you are creating change and sending out rippling waves of love: for food, life and the planet. Take the time you need. xxooo Big hugs!

I sure hope you enjoy your much deserved break -- I'm a new reader (new vegan actually!) and feel so blessed by the wealth of information you've shared through your books and blog. Wish there was a way not to be effected by those people who feel compelled to spread their negative thoughts and nastiness, I am just praying you know that there are WAY more people who value and appreciate you and your work. Try to dwell on that! And enjoy the time with your mom ... so sweet she can be with you :)

I'm sorry you've had to deal with that. Your books and blog posts are well-loved in my kitchen. I recently discovered the Blueberry Bounty Buns, which somehow I'd never made before, and they are so good! I've made them three times in as many weeks now. And now that I'm thinking about them, I want to make them again. :)

I hope you have a great and reinvigorating break, and look forward to seeing the new recipes & book!

You enjoy your time!

Some people stink... sorry you are on the receiving end of that.

Dreena, I'm so sorry you are dealing with hurtful comments. I don't understand why people feel the need to be mean on the internet. I deal with it too and I agree that it can be very hard to shake off. Just know what an inspiration you have been for me and many others- ED&BV was my very first cookbook and got me very excited about vegan cooking and baking, so thank you!

Remember when someone tries to bring you down it's often because they feel like you are on higher ground. Hold your head up high!

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog posts and your Facebook updates. I look forward to reading them each day.

I made your awesome mushroom gravy last night too! It's my husband's absolute favourite and mine too!

Have a great visit with your Mom and re-energize for more blogging! We all think you're awesome! :)

Sorry to hear you've been receiving nasty comments. Those of us who are sensitive to animals' suffering, I think, are more sensitive in general. So sensitivity is a good thing, it just means the bad stuff stings a little more. xxx

Dreena, I compeletly understand. Family obligations are MOST important. You can never get this time back with your kids. You are lovely, and I can't wait for what you have coming up next. Thanks for your thoughtful comment on my blog.

Hope you are having a wonderful time with your mom! Sorry about the negative comments - when that happens I think it is not about you, but about the person leaving the comment and their own insecurities about their choices. Enjoy your breather, you and your family deserve it!

I am glad you are taking a break. Just bought all three of your books, I only had to look through the one from the library to know they would turn out. Anyone who is leaving negative comments, isn't good in the kitchen and doesn't know how to cook. (Sorry if this brings you more negitivity, but I think it is the truth) So far the five or six things that I have made turned out GREAT!! WE will have a similar story as yours ...a gradual change. Can't take a hubby and four kids (20yrs and down) and change it all over night. But they are loving what I have made so far. So it's looking hopeful :)

My hubby is from the ROCK. He'll be pleased to know that your mom is too. :)

Wondering....do you know of a good sub. for the ground oats?....my youngest gets hives. If you don't I'll experiment.

Sorry for buggin you on your break. Hoping you are getting all the rest and change you need.

Blessings!
