Vegan Brownies!

These Fudgy Brownies from Vive le Vegan! are not only a favorite with family and friends, but get this... a bestseller at school bake sales!

Funny, my good friend and her sister starting making these for their kids' school bake sales. They made no 'vegan' mention, and people were shocked once they tasted them and learned they were egg- and dairy-free! These brownies became bake sale 'bestsellers', and are certainly in my top five favorite desserts from Vive le Vegan! So...

If you have Vive and you liked my Homestyle Chocolate Chip Cookies, you must go make these Fudgy Brownies. They are easy, and oh-so moist and chocolatey!

You had me at hello...I mean Fudgy Brownies! LOL

Just checked out the Amazon Site...there are only 5 of your book in stock. That means they are a-movin' :)

Mine just arrived in the mail yesterday, woo hoo! I think this might be the first recipe I try!

I really like the look of your book, Dreena. The color, the design elements, the recipe layout. I'm spending a lot of time scrutinizing cookbooks as of late, and yours rocks!

Yes, I agree. Great layout, its fun to look at.

Dreena, you keep on tempting me! I gave in to the call of the cookies, but I'm too afraid to make the brownies ;) unless I force them upon my family once I have one square.

Thanks Harmonia and Jennifer. The blog allows me to show my recipes and talk about them in more detail. Photos are very expensive for publishers, so they often don't include many - if any! This is a great forum to do it myself.

Give in to temptation, Melissa! :) My husband likens me to a chocolate/cookie 'dealer'. I say "wanna' cookie???"... he says "get those drugs away from me" - only because he can't stop at one, or two - usually it's five or six! Call me the 'cookie pusher'! :)

Well, Vicki... how sweet it is to have such a fabulous friend and fan all in one!! Wait now, isn't that my agenda with friends? Give brownies to friend = get friend that will give rave reviews!! You can lurk from here on in as much as you want, luv (Corrie intonation there, by the way)!

Hi Dreena--
I was wondering if your books include nutritional information? I looked at Amazon, but I couldn't tell from there.
Thanks!

Hi Emily! My first cookbook, "The Everyday Vegan" does have nutritional information for each recipe. "Vive le Vegan!" does not have this nutritional info. Is it the protein info you are interested in, or perhaps calories/fat... maybe both? Vive is heavy on legumes and grains for the savory dishes, and even the baked goods primarily use whole grains (with the exception of some desserts). So, these recipes are mostly lower fat with lots of nourishing ingredients for good protein, iron, calcium etc intake. Hope that helps some!

You're totally a pusher! I'm like your husband, I can't stop at one! I wouldn't mind making them, maybe next week, if I knew other people would eat the rest of them! I was really good with the chocolate chip cookies, I only ate one :) which was really hard, considering how yummy they are!

Another cookbook for me to check out :). From the looks of it, my kids would be all over those brownies.

Thanks for the info Dreena. I was mostly wondering about calories/fat/carb/protein (still tend to think in terms of Weight Watchers stuff). I don't worry too much about protein since I'm fairly certain I get enough anyway. Considering that there isn't any dairy in the book the calories probably aren't too high either.

Thanks.

I don't make things like this because I just sit down and eat them all. I have no will power when it comes to sweets (even though I prefer savouries; go figure).
