Things That Make You Go... Mmmmm!
Calling all vegan foodies! This post is the first to kick-off a regular feature here on the Vive le Vegan blog - Things That Make You Go ... Mmmmm!
Since I am always trying new vegan foods, I want to share some of my favorite finds with you. I won't have any association with any of the foods/companies that I am reviewing, other than enjoying the products. So, let's get started!
I used a pie shell from Wholly Wholesome in place of my own cookie-based crust for my Baked Lemon Cream Pie on our girls' night. This is my photo of my pie in the "Traditional" pie shell.
I really like these crusts. There are two shells to a package, and sell for roughly $3-$4 US. I used the Traditional shell for this pie, and I have used the Whole Wheat shell for other pies, including pumpkin pie. The whole wheat shell is definitely more "whole-grain" tasting, but is still quite good. Of course, if you are looking for a more buttery-tasting crust, then opt for the Traditional shell as it uses white flour. I prebaked the crusts before filling, and this and other baking information is given on the packaging.
These crusts do not contain any hydrogenated oils, and that's very important to me. Also, the company carries other pie crusts and ready-to-bake pies. I haven't tried them, but if I do and they are a hit, I'll be sure to let you know!

that certainly does make me go mmmm very loudly
Thanks Harmonia! I just popped onto your site. Cool, you have lots going on there, I need to go back and look at it some more!
Yes, Molly... if only there were more hours in the day to sample treats... mmmm!
We use Wholly Wholesome crust, too. My husband used it when he made your pumpkin cheesecake for me for my birthday!
Also, since I'm not sure where else to post this, I wanted to tell you that I've made your Chocolate Sin-namon Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream Frosting twice now. It's delicious!! My dad's getting it for Father's Day this weekend. And, I'm not sure why, but I always end up with extra frosting, which is great because I eat it up like a bowl of pudding. Yum!
And, sorry to gush, but I have all three of your books and LOVE them. Vive le Vegan is what sparked my conversion to a veganish diet a few years ago.
Thanks for all of your creativity and concern for health and well-being. I'll visit your blog often!
