These could be my new favorite cookie. Normally I go for chocolate in cookies or dessert. Chocolate or caramel. That's my number. Then, I test out these new Jam Thumbprints, and I'm in love!
Not only are they chocolate-free, they are also wheat-free. I am so pleased with these cookies, they just make me so very happy to make and eat! Plus, they came out almost bang-on the very first test - you have NO idea how much that affects my mood. Seriously. I don't get pms - I get rts (recipe testing syndrome). Poor hubby.
I've used a blackberry jam here instead of raspberry jam, but really you can use any flavor. They are more of a 'toeprint' cookie than a 'thumbprint with how big this jam dot is... but, who wants to eat a toeprint cookie?
I do feel I'm in Christmas cookie mode right now. Not that I do a cookie exchange for the holidays - I mean, who am I going to exchange with??! Give away my incredibly delicious cookies full of great-quality, animal-free ingredients for some junky butter/condensed milk/white sugar loaded cookies that I would have to throw out? No thanks.
Hmmm, idea guys... if any of you live in the same city and are communicating back and forth you should start a Vegan Christmas Cookie Exchange!!! Do it - and post the pics!!

Oh, those look so yummy! I'd eat a toeprint cookie!
Aimee
They look great. I've been craving jam in my desserts lately as well.
They look so good! The perfect holiday cookie!!
I want to do a cookie exchange with the few veg*ns I know in AZ!
This totally makes me want to make jamprints for my cookie gift baskets. Thanks, Dreena!
Eating Well magazine had a contest for healthiest cookie recipe a month or so ago, and one of the top 5 finalists was a vegan cookie! It was a jamprint cookie, too! The recipe creator for this one, though, dropped in a few chocolate chips and than smeared the jam on top. Just an idea! I'm sure these are great on their own.
And I would totally do a cookie exchange with you!
lol... would a toe print cookie therefore contain... toe jam???
-dayle (who else?)
Looking good Dreena! I cannot wait for this new cookbook. I know I've said that at least 20 times, but seriously, it's kiling me.
I am totally gonna make some jam thumbprints! Yummers!
Ha, thanks Aimee!
Thanks Laura, it's odd, I don't normally go for jam-type desserts, but these keep calling out to me from the fridge... :)
Julie, you *should* do an exchange!! Do it! I want to hear all about it!!!
Jess, are you making cookie gift baskets for Christmas? How lucky are YOUR friends??!!
Helena, that's pretty cool - I've never checked out that magazine - at least I don't think so. I'll have to look that up. I do hope the "healthiest cookie" winner was also a very tasty cookie!! (and the winner should have been that vegan cookie)!
!!TOE JAMPRINTS!! Ha, funny Dayle, love that! Could I use that as a recipe name? Is that too repulsive??! What do you think guys?? I could work it into the intro if not the name. Ha!
Vivacious, you can say it as MANY times as you like. :) I can't wait to get the book out! Thanks...
Brooke, sounds like you've caught my cookie fever!
I think it's always nice to have a non-chocolate choice, for those who can't have it. And what a nice choice this one is!
Yup, cookies baskets for the holidays! But, they're only for my coworkers, who knows if they deserve it : )
WOW, WOW, WOW!
Take a lookie at this recipe from Marth Stewart: http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=recipe3990050&contentGroup=MSL&site=living&rsc=ns2006_r3
I think I'm going to veganize them for Christmas. Yum!
Thanks Judy - I have a brother-in-law that cannot eat chocolate, and so he appreciates any non-chocolate desserts I make too!
Well Jess, still very lucky, even if not all that deserving!! :)
Yum, Kris, they look great! They'd be easy to veganize I think - I'll keep an eye on your blog to see if you make them soon!!
