Sneak Peek: Eat, Drink & Be Vegan

First off, I send my appreciation to you all for the excitement you've shown about my book, and for all your cheers and support!!

I'm still bouncing like Tigger about ED&BV, and so while you're waiting for your copies to arrive in the mail or in your local bookstores, I thought I'd give you a looky loo at some of the photos in the book and some more info about my demo at Taste of Health. You've seen lots of my own photos of these recipes over the last couple of years, but in ED&BV there are 16 colour photos inside, most featuring more than one recipe.

You haven't seen this recipe yet though. Veggie Tempeh Muffuletta. It's scrumptious, and as I mention in the book, although the recipe 'looks' long, it's not hard or time-consuming to make. I just love to chat with you all in my recipes - you know that!! :) And, I'll tell you that this is one of those recipes that you can make if you're still on the fence with tempeh. My husband loves it, and he's not super keen on tempeh normally. When I served this at our photo shoot, noone really knew what that main ingredient was - tofu? - faux meat?... nope, tempeh! So, you must try this recipe.

Next up, Chocolate Pumpkin Pie with Macadamia Maple Cream. This is chocolate decadence, but is so quick to prep - with your food processor and a prepared shell, you can get this pie into the oven in about 15 minutes. No kidding.

Do you remember this post way back? I had a bit of a guessing game for the mystery ingredient? Well, now you know! Yeah, the professional photo is much better... but be sure to make the Macadamia Maple Butter Cream to pair with this pie, 'cause if you're going for decadence you must go over the top!

And, I just posted about my White Bean Hummus with Fresh Thyme and Basil. Here it is again, along with my Peanut Sesame Hummus.
We know all good vegans must have a full repertoire of hummus recipes, and I'm helping you to do that with this book!

There are more great photos to come... and of course, delicious food to match!

Also, for those of you attending the Taste of Health event, here are the recipes I'll be showing in my demo (and yes, samples will be available):
- Acai Antioxidant Smoothie (photo of this smoothie is also in the book)
- Tamari Roasted Chickpeas
- Living Caesar Salad (posted here, and there's also a beautiful photo of this salad in the book!)
- 5-Star Ice Cream Sandwiches (posted here, and there's also an adorable photo in the book!)

After the demo, I'll post a couple of these recipes from my demo on my recipes page.

And, once you start receiving your copies of ED&BV, I want to have some fun. I'll get some feedback from you of recipes you'd like to see on my blog from the book. I'll do my best to showcase the most requested recipes!

Finally, if you're waiting for your bookstore to stock the book, please ask them to bring it in. Sometimes that's the best way for my books to reach the shelves - through your request.

So it was pumpkin... yeah I would NEVER have guess that. Can't wait to try it. Actually I can't wait to try it all! I just hope that it gets to my house soon.

Good Luck with the Taste of Health Event. I bet it will be lots and lots of fun. If only I could go. Maybe you'll even convert some non-veggies! (especially with the ice cream sandwiches!)

THANKS everyone!! :) There are so many more beautiful photos in the book - I don't have copies of all the photo files right now, so I hope to share more with you all soon.

Teresa, it *was* a tricky ingredient, and yet it goes SO well with the chocolate in this pie!

Heather, I aim to please with birthday gifts. :) My birthday is in October as well - happy birthday to me too, my book is published just in time!!

brownbirdrudyrelic, I guess so, I'll be checking amazon to see when they are listing it as 'in stock'... hopefully any day now.

Hiya dreamqueen!!! One of the 'orginal' bloggers! It's super nice to hear from you again. Now you are the 1st to say they have the book - awesome!! Thanks for the update....

So, I guess in some areas bookstores already have it on their shelves, and if not, pls be sure to ask the bookseller to bring it in, guys!

I'm also can't wait to grab a copy of this. Your other two cookbooks are definitely on my list of favorites.

Those pics and recipes look wonderful.

It must have been so cool to finally get your hands on a copy and see the design.

I know that one of my first recipes to try will be the Lentil and Veggie Chimichangas. I forgot you had a take on chimis until I saw the write up on the cookbook on Amazon. I can't wait until I receive my copy. I know I've said that a million times by now. :-)
I'm just waiting for hubby to get home to pop the Chipotle Veggie-Bean Burritos in the oven (from Vive). It's my first time making them.

I saw your book at an awesome enviromental store here in Halifax. I was so excited to flip through it, everything looked amazing, can't wait for my pre-ordered copy to come!

Hi Dreena! I just had the adzuki bean and rice cakes. O my, those are good!

I subbed the bread crumbs for oatmeal as you suggested here (and I added some wheatgerm. Ever since finding out it really makes patties stick together I am obsessive about adding wheatgerm to the mixture ;-) ). My boyfriend even gave them the thumbs up, and he is NOT a fan of vegan patties. Hurray!
